Terms of Service

The agreement between you and XODE. Plain language, because terms nobody reads protect nobody.

Last updated 15 September 2026

The short version

Your work is yours, and so is the responsibility for it. What you publish on XODE goes on the public internet under your name. Do not publish anything abusive, obscene, hateful, fraudulent or illegal, and never use XODE to collect other people's passwords, OTPs, bank or identity details. Every page is checked before it goes live. Anything that breaks these rules is blocked and recorded against your account, and where the law calls for it, reported to CERT-In and the police.

About XODE and this agreement

XODE ("XODE", "we", "us") is a browser-based builder for portfolios, websites and resumes, run from Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, at xodeinc.com. These terms are the agreement between you and XODE. Our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy form part of it.

By using XODE — building, downloading, publishing, reviewing or simply browsing — you accept these terms. If you do not accept them, do not use the service. If you use XODE for an organisation, you confirm you are allowed to accept them on its behalf.

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the rules and regulations XODE publishes under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021.

Who may use XODE

You must be 18 or older, or use XODE with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian who accepts these terms for you. Do not publish anything about a child — including photographs — without the consent of their parent or guardian.

Your account

You sign in with a Google account to save work to your account, download, publish, work with others or post a review. You are responsible for everything done under your account, so keep your Google account and the devices you use secure. If you think someone else has used your account, tell us straight away at the address in Contact.

One person, one account. Do not share access, sell or transfer an account, or open more accounts to get around limits, restrictions or a suspension.

What XODE provides

  • Three editors that run in your browser: a portfolio editor, a website builder of up to 20 linked pages, and a resume builder for A4 and US Letter.
  • Downloads and exports — images, PDFs, project files and, for websites, the HTML and CSS.
  • Publishing — a public address on xodeinc.com for a portfolio or a website, a QR code for it, and a place on the Great Wall.
  • AI features — layouts and text written by an AI model, including models you connect with your own key.
  • Sharing and working together — inviting other people to view or edit a project.
  • Reviews — public reviews of XODE, shown on the site and on the Great Wall.

Features, limits and prices change as the product grows. The current limits for each plan are on the pricing page.

Your content and your responsibility

You own what you create on XODE. We claim no ownership of your designs, text or images, and we do not use them to train AI models.

You give us only the permission we need to run the service. That is permission to store your work, show it to you and to anyone you share it with, and make the copies publishing needs. When you publish, it also lets us serve the page publicly at the address you chose and show it on the Great Wall. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account, except for records the law requires us to keep (section 10).

You alone are responsible for everything you create, upload, import, paste, generate with AI, link to, share or publish on XODE, and for what follows from it. In particular, you confirm that:

  • you own, or have permission to use, every word, picture, logo, font, video and piece of code you use — including a website you import from a file;
  • what you say about yourself is true — qualifications, jobs, clients, awards, registrations and reviews;
  • you have the consent of every person who appears in your pictures or whose personal details you publish;
  • you have checked anything an AI produced for you before using it. AI output can be wrong, invented, or infringe someone else's rights, and it becomes your content once you keep it.

Content that is not allowed

You may not create, upload, share, publish or review anything on XODE that does any of the following. This applies in any language, and to words, pictures, video, links, file names and code. Nothing may:

  • use abusive, obscene, vulgar or foul language, or show sexually explicit, pornographic or nude imagery;
  • sexually exploit or endanger children in any way — this is always reported to the authorities;
  • be hateful, harassing, threatening or insulting towards anyone because of religion, caste, race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, disability or any other characteristic;
  • show graphic violence, gore, self-harm or cruelty, or encourage it. Clinical material presented professionally in a medical professional's portfolio is permitted;
  • defame anyone, invade their privacy, or publish their personal or identity details, private images or morphed images without consent;
  • impersonate any person, business, bank, brand or government body, or falsely claim a connection with one;
  • be false or misleading with intent to deceive or to cause harm or financial loss — fake credentials, reviews, jobs, offers or news;
  • infringe copyright, trademark, patent or any other right, or copy a website, design or brand you do not own or have permission to use;
  • contain malware, or code that tracks, redirects, mines, attacks or deceives visitors;
  • promote or facilitate anything illegal in India, including gambling, betting, drugs, weapons, prostitution or escort services, and money laundering;
  • threaten the unity, integrity, defence, security or sovereignty of India, friendly relations with other countries or public order, or incite an offence;
  • break any other law in force.

Phishing, scams and restricted links

A website builder is an easy tool for fraud, so these rules are strict. They apply to every portfolio, website, resume and project. You may not use XODE to:

  • collect credentials or financial details — ask visitors for passwords, OTPs, UPI or ATM PINs, CVV, card or bank details, net-banking logins, Aadhaar, PAN or any other identity number, or send them to a page that does;
  • pose as someone you are not — a real person, or a bank, payment app, telecom company, courier, employer, marketplace, social network, government department, police, court or regulator;
  • run a scam — including KYC-update, account-block, electricity-disconnection, parcel or customs-fee, lottery or prize, refund or cashback, fake job or task, loan, investment or crypto-doubling, and "digital arrest" schemes;
  • hide where a link goes. That means link shorteners, links to bare IP addresses, look-alike or punycode domains, addresses dressed up as a bank or a government site, and visitor-tracking (IP-logger) links. It also covers domains on the list of restricted addresses we keep, including ones named in advisories from CERT-In and other authorities;
  • push downloads — link to APK, EXE or other app or program files;
  • publish empty or near-empty pages, or pages that exist only to send visitors somewhere else.

Publishing any of these can be an offence under the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, punishable with imprisonment and fines. Relevant sections of the Act include 66C (identity theft) and 66D (cheating by personation using a computer resource). They also include 67, 67A and 67B (obscene material, sexually explicit material, and material depicting children).

How content is checked

To keep XODE and the people who visit it safe, content is screened automatically:

  • in the editors — text when you add it to a project, and pictures and their file names when you upload them;
  • in forms — reviews, contact messages, AI prompts and web addresses;
  • before publishing — every page is read for abusive language, phishing and scam wording, restricted links and empty content, and pictures are screened.

Before you publish, you are shown these rules and asked to accept responsibility for what you publish. Nothing goes live until you do.

Automated checks are not perfect. They can stop something harmless and miss something that breaks these terms. Passing a check does not make content allowed, and it does not move responsibility for it to us. If you think something was blocked by mistake, contact us with the reference number you were shown and a person will review it. We may also review published pages at any time, on a report or on our own initiative.

Enforcement, records and reporting to authorities

If content breaks these terms, or we reasonably believe it does, we may act without notice where the risk calls for it. We may block it, remove it or disable access to it, take down a published site, stop an account from publishing, or restrict, suspend or close the account. A website taken down for breaking these terms cannot be republished or renewed. Repeated blocked attempts restrict an account automatically.

When content is blocked or removed, we record the account and email address, the time, the IP address and browser used, and what was blocked and why. For a blocked publishing attempt we also keep a copy of the pages. We keep these records for at least 180 days, and longer where an investigation or the law requires it.

Where content appears to be a crime or a cyber security incident, we preserve the records and report it. That includes phishing, fraud, impersonation, malware, child sexual abuse material, non-consensual intimate images and threats. We report to the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), and to the police through the National Cyber Crime Reporting Portal (cybercrime.gov.in). We share information with courts, government agencies and law enforcement when the law requires it.

If you are the victim of a cyber fraud, report it immediately at cybercrime.gov.in or on the national helpline 1930, and tell us too.

Cautions before you rely on XODE

  • Published means public. Anyone with the address, and anyone browsing the Great Wall, can see a published page, save it and share it. Deleting it later does not remove copies other people have made.
  • Keep sensitive details off your pages. Do not publish your Aadhaar or PAN number, bank details, home address, date of birth or ID documents. A phone number or email address you publish can be collected by spammers.
  • Unsaved work lives in your browser. Clearing browsing data, a private window or a different device can lose work that was not saved to your account. Sign in, and download a copy of anything important.
  • Check AI output. AI-written text and layouts can be inaccurate or unsuitable. Read everything before you publish it.
  • Your AI keys are yours to protect. A key you connect is kept in your browser on your device. Anyone using that browser can use it, and charges from the AI provider are yours.
  • People you share a project with can change it. Only invite people you trust.
  • Links you add are your responsibility. Check where they lead, and keep them current.
  • Downloads leave XODE. Once you download or export your work, how it is used and where it is hosted is up to you, and XODE's checks no longer cover it.
  • XODE does not verify what people publish. Anyone relying on a portfolio, resume or website — an employer, a client, a visitor — should make their own checks.

Fair use of the service

Do not try to break into other accounts or our systems, or get around plan limits, content checks or restrictions. Do not scrape the site at scale, resell access, send spam or overload the servers. Automated use beyond normal browsing needs our written permission. If you find a security vulnerability, report it to us privately and give us reasonable time to fix it.

Plans, payments and refunds

The free plan costs nothing and has the limits shown on the pricing page. Paid options are one-time payments in Indian rupees, plus GST:

  • Pro — six months from the day you buy;
  • Max — twelve months from the day you buy;
  • An extra published site — a one-time charge for another address once your plan's allowance is used;
  • Website hosting — free for the first year of each published website, then a yearly renewal for each website.

The prices on the pricing page and at checkout when you pay are the ones that apply. Payments are processed by Razorpay, and XODE does not see or store your card details. Nothing renews automatically, and you are never charged again unless you choose to pay.

A payment is for a fixed period that starts when you pay. It is not refunded once that period has started, except for a duplicate or failed charge or where the law requires it. When a plan ends the account returns to the free plan — nothing you made is deleted, and pages already published stay up, subject to section 14. Price changes never apply to a period already paid for. Payments for an account suspended or closed for breaking these terms are not refunded.

Published sites and hosting

Published portfolios stay available for as long as your account exists and they follow these terms.

Published websites are hosted free for one year from the day they are first published. After that, each website's hosting is renewed yearly from your account page, which shows the days left. If a year ends without renewal, the website goes offline and shows visitors a notice. It is not deleted, and renewing brings it back. Republishing does not restart the year — renewing does.

Every published website carries a small "Made with XODE" link and a way for visitors to report it. We review reports and act on them as described in section 10 and section 18. XODE is not an archive — keep your own copies of anything important.

Availability and backups

We work to keep XODE running, but we do not promise it will always be available, free of errors or secure. Maintenance, hosting failures, attacks and events outside our control happen. Where we can give notice of planned downtime, we will. Back up your work, and export regularly if it matters to you.

Disclaimers, liability and indemnity

XODE is provided "as is" and "as available". We do not guarantee that the service, templates, AI output or automated checks are accurate, complete or fit for a particular purpose. Nor do we guarantee that a portfolio, resume or website will get you work.

We host content that users create and are not responsible for it. To the extent the law allows, XODE is not liable for content published by others, or for indirect or consequential losses such as lost profits, opportunities, reputation or data. Our total liability to you in any twelve-month period is limited to what you paid us in that period.

You agree to indemnify XODE and the people who run it against claims, losses, fines and costs, including reasonable legal costs. That covers anything arising from your content, your use of XODE, or your breach of these terms or of the law.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that the law does not allow to be limited, or rights you have as a consumer under Indian law.

Suspension and ending the agreement

You may stop using XODE and delete your account and content at any time from your account page. Records the law requires us to keep are kept for as long as it requires.

We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We will say why, unless the law, an investigation or the safety of others prevents us. If we discontinue the service, we will give at least 60 days' notice and time to export your work.

Grievance Officer and complaints

You can complain to our Grievance Officer about content on XODE — including a page that impersonates you, uses your pictures, is a scam or breaks these terms — or about how we have handled your account:

Grievance Officer, XODE
Email: xode.enterprises@gmail.com, with "Grievance" as the subject
Address: XODE, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India

Include the page's address, what is wrong and how to reach you. We acknowledge a complaint within 24 hours and resolve it within 15 days. A request to remove content that breaks section 7 is dealt with within 72 hours. A complaint that a page shows someone nude, in a sexual act or with their private areas exposed, uses a morphed image of them, or impersonates them is acted on within 24 hours.

Changes to these terms

We update these terms as XODE changes. Material changes are announced on this page, and account holders are told by email or in the product before they take effect. Changes to the publishing rules appear in the publish dialog and must be accepted before your next publish. If you keep using XODE after a change, you accept the updated terms.

Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Chennai, Tamil Nadu have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes. We would much rather sort things out first — write to xode.enterprises@gmail.com.
